Ang challenging hindi ba, ang makapag-save ng pera as a 20-something Pinoy. In your quest for financial independence, ano nga ba ang ilan sa mga tips to help you save your financial future? Here’s 3 slightly unconventional ways you can save money!
- Visualize your financial goals. Write them down.
Sakto at end of the year na, here is one thing you should do. Sit down and reflect on your financials. An easy way to do that is to think about your financial disappointments this year. Ask yourself, what could you have done better, what were your biggest money regrets, what were your failed financial decisions?
From there, you can set up your goals better. Learn from your mistakes and be more committed to making sound financial decisions in the coming year. Wag kakalimutan that you should write these things. Iba ang nasa isip mo lang, iba ang written in paper and you can actually read. Write it or print it and pin it kung saan palagi mo makikita. So that you always get reminded. And you stay focused.
2. Practice the “Elimination Diet” in your purchases
We are advocates of budget trackers. It’s a simple practice that’s hard to pull off. Pero once you get the hang of it, it’s gonna make milestones for you. Now, once you have your budget, and a list of the things you spend on – see where you can make changes and save. For example, DRINKS! Bring your own tumbler. Make your own coffee, you’ll easily save Php600 every month! Are you still watching cable TV? Maybe you only need online streaming at this point. Think where you can eliminate expenses so that you can make room with things that matter more!
3. Log out of Instagram or Facebook
Instagram is full of pretty pictures of gorgeous clothes, fantastic scenery and seemingly perfect lives of seemingly perfect people. It’s also a blackhole for your finances. Instagram is a portal for social comparison. The more you compare yourself to friends/strangers you’re following on Instagram, the more you feel inferior.
Bakit si ganito pupunta sa concert habang ako nasa office? There goes that extra P200 you spent on Starbucks to make you feel better about yourself. Swerte ni ganyan oh: nasa Japan na naman sya. Mayaman kasi, e. There goes that P800 bill on your groceries because you felt like you deserved it. Grabe si friend, ang ganda lagi ng buhok. And there goes that P2,500 you spent on your hair because you were bored.
Do yourself a favor and log out of Instagram. Life’s sweeter when you’re not bitter. :)MONTHLY SAVINGS: P1,000 at least!
